And a little tip... Just up the road a short distance is a nichè little cafe/restaurant (with great views, inside verandah and garden seating), at the front of a caravan park. They do a great cuppa, milkshakes or an icecream etc but also cater for breakfast lunch and full 3 course meals.

You can do as much or as little as you want to do at Hume Dam. From sitting at the picnic tables or grassy knoll and/or you can walk the full length if you want to. Great photo opportunities at every step and angle. It's a great place to visit and experience.

There's plenty of parking inc. designated disability parking. However, come prepared. The parking lot is up a reasonably steep hill (concrete path) from where you want to go, which is down the hill to look at the dam, to look and admire the ingenuity of the dam and adjoining waters by yourself and/or with your family and friends, ie. the sights.

Lovely to look out over the lake on one side, with the green hills as backdrop, and the branching Murray on the other. When we went the museum was under renovation, but there was still some interesting plaques and bits of machinery about to inspect.

First time i was unprepared, so I ask hubby to go enjoy himself and the views and take photos and I'll enjoy him telling me about it through his photos. I am perfectly happy doing that.

However, i couldn't make it back up the hill (it was a small scooter and didn't have the battery/motor power required). I had it full throttle and hubby had to push from behind. This is why I gave 4/5 stars. Otherwise it would have been 5/5!

Worth the drive out. Great views from the top of the dam wall. Stairs down to the right at the start of the wall offer views of the power turbines. Public toilets and picnic facilities available.

Little piece of heaven on earth. The dam makes you think mankind used to do better once.

The second time, we hired a scooter (for a week) from a nearby disability aide store. The scooter was awesome and allowed for much more inclusion in activities.

Beautiful place ,clear blue sky in Spring.A short coming is the nuisance of flies disturbing you, even while walking.
